Madrid, a cardio-protected city

Cardio-protection travels by bus, too.

With the installation of defibrillators on more than 2,000 EMT Madrid buses, the city is creating a mobile cardio-protection network, helping strengthen the response to cardiac emergencies.

Cardio-protected EMT Madrid buses

The Reanibex 100 is the defibrillator being installed across the EMT Madrid bus fleet. Designed and manufactured in Spain, it is an automated external defibrillator (AED) designed for both adult and paediatric patients. It features a geolocation system and CPR support functions, including a metronome and real-time feedback on chest compression rate.

In addition to the defibrillator itself, the project includes a comprehensive connected cardio-protection solution that enables 24/7 remote monitoring of the operational status of the defibrillators. This allows continuous tracking of the devices installed throughout the EMT Madrid fleet and enhances readiness to respond to an incident or actual emergency use.

In the event of an emergency, removing the defibrillator from its location automatically triggers a call to the 112 emergency services and sends an alert with the device’s location. The Reanibex 100 switches on automatically when the lid is opened and guides the rescuer step by step with clear and intuitive voice prompts.
